About Cabello
Cabello hair (formally Haylo Hair) was established in Miramar in 2004. The Owner - Renee Heatherwick - saw the need for a local, boutique hair salon in Miramar, which employed highly qualified staff and offered great prices; taking away the need to travel to the city, paying over-inflated prices and astronomical parking fees. Knowing that Miramar was an up and coming area, it was a no brainer that we would open in this beautiful and unique eastern suburb.
Cabello’s staff are all nationally qualified, and we require our trainees to be in some form of formal training. Renee - Cabello’s Owner & Creative Director - is also internationally qualified, holding her IPSN certificate. We are passionate about providing quality experiences and place great importance on ensuring that our clients are looked after by only the most qualified hair dressers.
All of Cabello’s hair dressers must undertake annual training and professional development to ensure that they stay current and motivated. We pride ourselves on being leaders in the industry, and continually offering amazing quality, workmanship, and service.

About Renee
Renee Heatherwick is not only the Managing Director of Cabello, but also an award winning advanced stylist and creative director. She has over 25 years experience in the hair and beauty industries. She started her career and gained her national qualification in Palmerston North. After completing her apprenticeship she went to London where she did her advanced training with Tony & Guy and Vidal Sassoon. On her return to New Zealand she moved to Wellington to manage an inner city salon. Renee continued to manage salons and day spas until she started Haylo Hair (now Cabello Hair) in 2004.
Renee has competed many times. She is a former winner of the Wellington photographic competition and regional winner of the Schwarzkopf regional team event, as well as placing in many other competitions.
In 2011 Renee received her International qualification (IPSN). She is currently one of a small number who have this throughout New Zealand.
Renee took a break from the salon floor for 2 1/2 years where she worked as National Manager for Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation, the organisation that looks after the hairdressing and beauty qualifications, and the apprenticeship programmes, until returning back to Cabello hair in February 2013.
Renee specialises in both cutting and colouring. She believes you can’t have one of these specialties without the other as they compliment each other so well.
Renee ensures that she is continuously up-skilling, to guarantee she stays at the top her profession.
